Cole's Christmas Performance

On the 18th Cole had his Christmas performance at Penelope’s. It’s so cute to watch them all get together and sing. Cole was really excited when he saw us and actually stopped to tell me my flash was ‘too bright in his eyes”. When he found Cameron in the audience he stopped to show him his egg.  He sang along and did a good job. Here are some photos and of course cute videos too!

And a few cute Videos of our chicken . . . or duckling . . . or maybe tweetie.

Newsletter Month 33

We were getting ready for Church Sunday and you walked toward me half naked and I almost fell over. You looked so big! I got tears in my eyes as my little boy is really getting so big. You can dress yourself, yes sometimes your underwear are on inside out and shorts on backwards, but you can do it and do it all yourself. You rarely want to pick anything out of your drawers, so I usually grab clothes and lay them on the floor and you’ll do the rest. I rarely make you change if you put thing on backwards, mostly because you never believe they aren’t on right.  Sometimes it takes our game of ‘oh you can’t do that, you can’t put your pants on by yourself’ and then you’ll happily prove me wrong asking me to say it again.
You are a pretty happy-go-lucky kid. You love to explore outside and you and Cameron have been having so much fun in the leaf piles. We’ve had some really since fall days and get outside as much as we can. We’ve been walking down to see the ducks pretty often and just you and I went one afternoon. You fed the ducks then spent almost an hour ‘fishing’ with sticks and throwing rocks. You got really close to the water and I said ‘be careful, I don’t want you to fall in’ and you told me ‘trust me momma, trust me’.  And you were right you didn’t fall in. You love Ladybugs, we’ve found a few recently and you pick them up and hold them and carry them around. I try and convince you to put them in the grass and you usually get them in the grass while they are still alive, however you can hold them and watch them forever.

I’ve had some long days at work and extra hours on the weekend lately. Daddy has been picking you up and putting you to bed and you’ve been doing great. I miss you terribly, but you miss my hair mostly. Daddy picked you up one day and you asked if I was home, when he said no you said ‘but I want her hair!’ and he said ‘you can play with mine’ to which you replied, ‘no yours is stcratchy’. One Saturday I had to go into the office for a few hours and you said, ‘no mommy, I want your hair.’ You crack me up. You do absolutely love it, but the thought that you can’t live without it makes me laugh.
You are always full of the funny cute little staying, often having daddy and I look at each other and smile. The truth is you absorb everything around you. You sat down one night and were sure you wanted to read to dad and he not read to you. So you climbed up on his lap and said, ‘Here’s our book – by William Marx’ . . . . and as Daddy and I laughed he asked, ‘where you get that from?’ and your quick reply was ‘my mouth!’  And then of course we were all laughing so hard we could barely read. I still need to figure out what book it is you’re reading by William Marx, thinking I’ll have to ask at school.
You still quote frozen often. One day you even sang me one of the full songs. I love your sweet voice. You often go around chopping ice – which equals swinging a hammer or some other crazy object and hacking at something. I usually ask you to do this outside. One morning Daddy was sleeping and you went to him and told him ‘get up, the skies away, I can’t sleep I need to play . . . go play by yourself’ . . . and then you make him smile and of course he has to get up. You also love to wrestle with him and you have the hardest head and it goes flying all over. We’re almost hesitatnt to let you wrestle at all since Cameron has to wrestle too and someone always gets hurt.
You and I try to have quiet Fridays after we drop Cameron off, some days that doesn’t happen and we run errands from the moment we drop him off till we pick him up. Other days we head back home and head to your room and just play. We get out all the toys and rummage around in all the baskets finding the next fun toy and I love it. You are so sweet and you love to play. You play so well by yourself. We’ve put a light in your room that you can turn on now so I notice you going in more often without us. You have the best imagination and come up with all sorts of fun things to play. You love to ‘fix’ things with tools and are often seen running up and down the hallway with planes in your hands racing them.
You love bubbles in your bath and would play in there for hours if we let you. You love spoonfuls of peanut butter and ask often for ‘peanut butter, no banana please’, you love noodles and gummies, you love movies, planes, the Lorax and Frozen top the list, you love shorts, you love laughing, you still love the words stupid and poop, you love throwing rocks and being outside, you love digging in the dirt, you love bible class, you love our cats, you love Cameron’s teacher, you love Cameron and miss him everyday he’s at school, you love your Momma and Daddy and give the best hugs when we’ve been away. And of course one of your greatest loves . . . my hair!
We’ve been getting ready for Christmas over the last few weeks and you have been all for it. You helped pick out a tree and decorate it. You did a great job adding ornaments to the tree, even if most of them happen to be located in the same spot. You love looking for Jakey (the elf) everyday and are so excited to open the advent doors. We made a gingerbread house this weekend and you ate so much of the candy you hardly had any to decorate. When I’d ask if you ate any you’d look at me and ‘oh no I didn’t’ and I’d say are you sure? And you’d go no momma look, it’s in the bowl . . . true there was more in the bowl, but not much.

When I tell you no you say – ‘But Mommmmaa’ and I say ‘but coley’ and you repeat ‘but Mommmmaaaa’ and we go back and forth till you’re giggly and smiley and curled up in my lap. You've been obsessed with the thought of me having a baby in my belly. You'll have me lay down and you'll put all sorts of things in my tummy to make it look big. When we were talking about seeing Santa I asked what are you going to ask Santa for and you said 'a baby in your tummy' Ut oh!!  Well I tried to persuade you to think of other things. Thankfully we went the next day and you asked for a sucker and puzzles . . .  much easier to do.  Your sweet, funny, kind, headstrong, loving, silly and so much more. You fill up my heart each and everyday. I love you – Love Momma

Christmas Trimming

The Saturday after Thanksgiving Cameron wasn’t feeling well, we talked about getting a tree, but he wasn’t up for it. However, after a nap at about 4 o’clock he asked if we could go. We decided we’d go check out a couple close lots so that we can have a tree and keep the walking minimal for Cameron. The first place we started didn’t have much that we liked so we headed to one more place and found the tree within 10 minutes. It had rained that day so we were able to bring it in the garage and let it sit and dry.

Sunday we put stocking and decorations out and added lights to the tree.

We ran out of time for ornaments that night because we wanted to go to a tree lighting near by. We had dinner at our favorite restaurant and then waited outside. It was really cold that day so even waiting for 5 minutes was pretty cold. The boys waited and waited and then . . . it was lit - really pretty but a tad underwhelming! We headed over to the courtyard pretty quickly to see if we could avoid the crowds and get a glimpse at the reindeer. And we did, the boys enjoyed watching them, but they didn't do all that much . . .

Shawn told the boys, when they asked how the tree lit up, that a rocket comes and lights the tree on fire and then the lights go up . . . this terrified Cole and he hasn't forgotten the story yet and every time we drive by we have to talk about it. Luckily there were fire fighters having dinner too so I told him they were there to put out the fire so we were safe . . . he sort of believed me. Oh Dad!
Monday night we started decorating. Decorating with two isn’t as easy as one, but they did a great job! We added ornaments over a few nights and only broke one bulb, so I'd call it a success.  The house is warm and ready for Santa. The elf has been hiding and keeping the boys on their toes. The advent calendar is full of candy each morning and Cameron’s started his own count down calendar! We're headed to see Santa soon.

Just a little tree, but it's our tree and it's prefect!
